15 purest sources of plant protein
Why your protein source matters more than the quantity
Hi….my name is Merryl and I’m a mother and grandmother who wants everyone to know the energetic wonder of eating living foods.
Have you thought about eating more plants but are worried you won’t get enough protein?
As I announced my intention to cycle across South America, I would see a thousand questions in the eyes of my loved ones as they stared at me mute, not knowing which to ask first.
Most are concerned that my plant based diet won’t give me the protein I need to conquer the continent, including the Andes!
They advise me with great concern to have a piece of steak now and again.
My Answer: All plants have protein, and ALL plants have varying amounts of amino acids.
According to the World Health Organization and the United States Recommended Daily Allowances, we need 10% protein from calories.
This aligns with what Doug Graham says. He is my hero and the author of the 80-10-10 raw vegan lifestyle book.
Did you know that human breast milk is only about 4% protein? That's the lowest of all mammals, and that's for a very fast-growing baby! WOW! My babies thrived on breastmilk which I allowed them freely for two or three years.
But what does 10% equate to in grams? On a 2,000-calorie diet, that’s about 50 grams of protein.
And it’s not hard to get 10% or MORE protein on a plant-based diet.
I’ve got a great resource you will want to check out to see what plant foods are HIGHEST in protein.
