Hi - in many parts of the world girls are brought up feeling unheard and unseen. They have dreams and visions waiting to explode into the world around them yet they have no voice. Good news! Tomorrow, girls are invited to this live introduction:

My friends Haseena and Shameema, sisters from South Africa, created the Leave No Girl Behind International organisation to address the disempowerment of girls in their own country. South Africa has a diverse spectrum of cultures and many of those cultures do not value and respect women.

The sisters grew up in Apartheid South Africa where they felt the harsh effects of discrimination. Also, South Africa is a very patriarchal country where males are brought up to exert power over vulnerable women. It is a country where, nearly thirty years since the abolishment of apartheid, gender-based violence is an increasing epidemic. In a 90 day period between October and December 2022, more than 3 children and 12 women were murdered daily.

Haseena & Shameema set out to create a community within their neighbourhood where girls could learn to take back their own power. This community has reached out to all corners of the world to help young women find their voices in the society where they are situated.
