Mercola Flips from Fat to Fruit
Dr. Mercola has finally joined us... in doing WHAT??!!??
Eating FRUIT.
For years Dr. Mercola was a leading advocate for a high-fat keto diet. In 2017 he wrote Fat for Fuel: A Revolutionary Diet to Combat Cancer, Boost Brain Power, and Increase Your Energy.**
He writes (erroneously) in the Amazon description:
"A ketogenic diet, very low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fats, is the way to optimize the biochemical pathways that suppress disease and support healing."
In the centuries-old Living foods movement, we've been saying all along that high-fat is NOT healthy. Simply because:
★ Fat is difficult to find and catch in Nature.
Animals you have to run after for days before they tire and you can shoot the arrow.
Trees bear fatty nuts only once a year — whereas we see fruit-bearing trees all year round. Here in South Africa our nut season is a 90-day May-August but new fruits appear every month — citrus, apples, pears and fatty avocado in winter. Then comes summer with its watery grapes, melons and stone fruits.
Fruits are rich in structured water — more than 90% water. Whereas nuts have only 5% water. You need that structured water for your fascia. That's our inner Internet.
The structured water in fascia carry electrical signals to every cell of the body. Your brain knows you stubbed your big toe long before any nerve message reaches it. That's your fascia carrying the message on a sub-atomic physics level.
I'm personally convinced that it's the structured water in fruit that makes it so healthy. Giving us abundant energy.
Dr. Mercola says it's the glucose in fruits.

Scroll down to the sub-header: Why I Changed My Mind About Low-Carb Diets — to read why he LOVES fruit now, and grows it himself on his smallholding in Florida.
Dr. Mercola writes:
"I've radically revised my thinking on the idea that a low-carb diet is the best way to optimize your metabolic health.
That was misguided, because when glucose is absent, your body releases cortisol to produce endogenous glucose. Cortisol sacrifices lean muscle mass, bone and your brain to make glucose, which triggers inflammation and impairs your immune function.
As a fuel, glucose is vastly superior to fat, and this was something I simply got wrong.
...I prematurely concluded that a high-fruit diet was nonsense and remained relatively low-carb for nearly four decades.
This was until I encountered Ray Peat's work... now I eat 3 to 4 pounds of watermelon virtually every morning at 5:30 as my first meal... I have additional fruits later in the day.
...I would restrict my carb intake to 100 grams, and sometimes to less than 50 grams. Now, I'm eating 450 grams of carbs a day, so the majority of my calories come from carbohydrates — but not just any carbohydrates.
...THE BEST CARBS TO EAT ARE RIPE FRUITS."
[emphasis mine]
Our Living foods movement dates back to the days of the Essenes, who lived at the time of Jesus. An absolute must-read is The Essene Gospel of Peace.**
The gospel was found in the Vatican archives. If we accept its validity (as I do) then we discover that Jesus was a Living fooder! He taught his followers how to eat God's food — whole fresh ripe raw organic plants and sprouted grains.
Most people don't know it, but they're frightened of fruit.
You know the arguments — it's too high in sugar, it rots your teeth, it spikes your blood sugar, it's picked too early, it's heavily sprayed, it feeds candida and cancer...
I thank Dr. Doug Graham for inspiring me to lose this fear, with his book, The 80/10/10 Diet: Balancing Your Health, Your Weight, and Your Life, One Luscious Bite at a Time.**
Please read Dr. Mercola's article. It explains HOW high-fat causes inflammation. You simply don't want inflammation of your organs or brain — especially not an inflamed appendix :)
What’s your favorite — fruit or fat?
