More Natural Approaches to Osteoporosis and Bone Health 2.0--replay this weekend 1/27
Create your complete (& fun!) osteoporosis exercise program
Hi — One of the key factors in maintaining bone mass is exercise.
Exercise not only helps decrease bone loss but also increases bone density and reduces the risk of fractures.
It is fascinating to note that at osteoporosis screening events, Margie Bissinger, PT, MS, CHC, has noticed that the individuals with the highest bone density scores had diets rich in fruits and vegetables AND they exercised.
A complete osteoporosis exercise program should include 4 types of exercise:Â
Weight bearing exercises to grow strong bones
Resistance exercises to strengthen muscles
Postural exercises to decrease harmful stress on the back
Daily balance exercises to reduce the risk of falling
By making positive changes in how you exercise and how you move, you can significantly improve your bone health.
