Hwyl has been birthed

I have finally put my money where my mouth is and acquired a campervan. I have been boring my friends and family for more than 3 years talking about this dream.

He is a mature van but in good nick. A lovely lass in Wales has built a gorgeous rustic and rudimentary home within Hwyl for me. Hence he needed a Welsh name.

Power in words; power in a name…

Hwyl, when coupled with fawr, means good bye or “all the best” . On its own, the word Hwyl (pronounced Huil) refers to a complex and intangible quality of passion and sense of belonging that isn’t easy to translate but has been said to sum up Welshness in a word according to worldwidewords.org.

The big dictionary of Welsh, says this, “ A healthy physical or mental condition, good form, one’s right senses, wits: temper, mood, frame of mind; nature, disposition; degree of success achieved in the execution of a task; fevour, ecstacy, unction, gusto, zest……..

I love the positivity of the word. Last year when I first chose to have Jade of Woodhackers create my living space in a Toyota Hiace I thought to name it Hiraeth. This word is also complex in meaning and seems to me to be juxtaposed with Hwyl. Hiraeth speaks of a longing/homesickness/nostalia (the Sunday night before boarding school) for something wonderful that can not be attained again. Hiraeth seems full of sadness and loss. I wanted to feel blue for the life I had before.

Turn your negative thinking upside down…

A couple of years ago my life was turned upside down. And like a murky pond disturbed, the sludge of negativity was now floating on the top. It has taken a while for the bubbles of positivity to work their way to the surface again. It took my listening to Joe Dispenza’s Rewired to force that negative sludge back to the depths. Positivity once more sparkles with new buoyancy.

I made a choice to turn all negative thoughts onto their heads. I chose the positive spin on every happening and the “quantum coherence” and “power of alignment” has had an incredible unfolding in my life.
